Sally Poncer, 88, of Danville, KY passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born on April 7, 1933 in Rockcastle County to the late Charles Dean and Sofie (Bond) Mullins.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for many years, helping in the church any where she was needed and hosting many of the visiting ministers and their families. Her numerous talents included being a gifted homemaker and having a green thumb. Her flower and vegetables flourished wherever she planted them. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Butternut Bread Company in Cincinnati and various other jobs in places that they had lived. Lastly she was the bookkeeper for Grace Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by a son, Johnathan (Stacie) Poncer of North Carolina; two daughters, Debra Hoover of Florida and Mary (Dan) Brown of Richmond, KY; two sisters Norma Jean Warren of Ohio and Violet Miner of Tennessee; Eleven grandchildren, James Poncer, Eric Poncer, Grant Poncer, Jeremy Hoover, Spencer Hoover, Tyler Hoover, Kimberly Hoover, Christopher Hoover, Erin Brown, Sarah Brown and Lucas Brown; twenty great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Poncer; a son, William (Bill) Poncer; three brothers, Raleigh Mullins, Jack Mullins, and J.L. Mullins; four sisters, Novella Schneider, Bernice Mecham, Louise Foster, and Pauline Frost; and a grandson, David Poncer.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Beard officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 AM to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Poncer, Jeremy Hoover, Eric Poncer, Grant Poncer, Tim Poncer and Luke Brown. Honorary Pallbearers are Sarah Brown, Spencer Hoover and Tyler Hoover.
Sally loved flowers but if you prefer you can donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Heart Association.
