Russell Kreider

November 10, 1930 — September 10, 2021

Russell R. Kreider went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 10, 2021.  Born November 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Russell and Katherine Mae Hawks Kreider. Russell graduated from Boulder High School in Boulder, Colorado.  He attended the University of Colorado before enlisting in the Air National Guard and serving in Korea.  After returning from Korea, he met and married Faye Frances Jones.  They moved to Boulder where he completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado in 1957.  He then attended Physical Therapy School at Northwestern University and graduated in 1959.  While working at the Medical College of Virginia, Russell enlisted in the Army Reserves.   He retired in 1990 as a full Bird Colonel after 36 years of service.  He practiced Physical Therapy for 49 years.  Russ was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church.  He was a life member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Reserve Officers Association. He was also a member of the Association of the United States Army and the American Legion.

Russ is survived by his wife of three years, Mary Ann Kreider; daughter, Molly Katherine (Jim) Jacobus of Danville; son, Russell Spencer (Debby) Kreider of Danville; six grandchildren: Taryn Kay Jacobus of Danville, Jamie Marie (Silas) Ramey of Danville, twins: Russell Colton (Kaycie) Kreider of Texas and Carson Mae (Mark) Kreider of Texas, Caitlin Elise Kreider of Danville and Cooper Ross Kreider of Danville; and five great grandchildren: Peyton Brooke Ramey, Audrey Blair Ramey, Piper Amelia Rebecca Jacobus, Russell Cash Kreider, and Hudson Lee Coulter.

Visitation is 5-8 pm, Sunday, September 19th at Centenary United Methodist Church. Services will be at 10 am, Monday at Centenary with Rev. Dr. Quentin Scholtz, Rev. Scott Stith, and Rev. Chris Morgan officiating.  Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors.  Pallbearers are John Evans, Joe Simpson, Lou Walker, Jay Johnson, Carl Sjogren, and Rex Dawson.  Honorary pallbearers are Bob Bootes, Mike Kondik, Randal Carter, Mike Hunt, John Kennedy, and Tom Ellis.  Memorial Contributions suggested to Heritage Hospice or Danville Centenary United Methodist Endowment Fund.
