Rev. Virgil Hardy, 94, of Danville passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023. Born December 31, 1928, he was the son of the late Albert and Otie Gray Hardy. He had retired from Whirlpool after 18 years where he worked in Quality Control Engineering. Rev. Hardy was an ordained minister in the Church of God. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful, loving Dad, Pappaw, and Grandpa. Virgil enjoyed his years at Arnold Towers and the friends he met there.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Marcella Downey Hardy; son, Jim Hardy; sisters, Alberta Rakes and Vivian Smith; and brothers, Ed and Lawrence Hardy and infant, David Hardy.
Survivors include his son, Glen Hardy of Greenville; daughters: Beverly (Joe) Cooper of Lincoln County and Pat (Terry) Walston of Lebanon; brothers: Bill Hardy, Dan Hardy, and John Hardy, all of Greenville and Albert Hardy, Jr of WV; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is 11am-1pm, Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with Bro. Eric Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Glen Hardy, Jr., T.J. Bryant, Skyler Walston, Corey Walston, Craigory Coppola, Caleb Coppola and Jim Hardy, Jr.
