Rebecca Meyers

Rebecca (Becky) Mae Bruster Meyers, 92, of Danville, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018. Becky was born September 2, 1925, to the late Howard, Sr and Susan Bruster in Ithaca, NY. She grew up in Ithaca, NY, and when she graduated from high school went to Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City, NY (now known as Clark Summit University, Clark Summit, PA). Upon graduation she went to work for 8 years at Baptist Mid-Missions, Cleveland, OH. In 1954 in Cleveland, OH, she married Clyde Roger Meyers of Cleveland. She had a family of four children, during which time she was active in her church as member of the youth committee, junior youth director, nursery coordinator, Vacation Bible School worker, coordinator & teacher of Neighborhood Bible Clubs. In 1972, she moved to Danville, KY, and became a member of First Baptist Church (By-Pass). She was involved in the deaf ministry in Sunday School, Bible Club, Vacation Bible Schools, served on the offering committee, taught Reapers Sunday School Class. When she came to Danville, she joined the Newcomers Club and enjoyed friendships from that club throughout the years. She had many friends that she met through the Christian Women's Club of Danville. She did daycare work for several years and made many lasting friendships. She had a greeting card ministry throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde; one son, Stephen Meyers (Lyn) of Philadelphia, PA; three daughters, Rebecca Meister of Danville, KY, Mary Jo Lockwood (Dale) of Danville, KY, Virginia Boone of Scranton, PA; ten grandchildren, Joshua Meyers, Abby Vona (Matt), John Meister (Lori), Joel Meister (Natalie), Alisha Lockwood, Rachel Thomas (Steve), Hannah Leeds (Ezekiel), Elizabeth Morris (David), Timothy Boone (Molly), and Paul Boone; eight great grandchildren, Liberty Hood, Elaina Thomas, Phinehaus Thomas, Liam Leeds, Quincy Leeds, Synclair Leeds, Sadie Morris, and Olivia Boone; and a brother, Howard Bruster II of California; preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth King (Florida) and Virginia Eaton (New York).

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Tim Mathis officiating and visitation will be 9a.m.-11a.m. before the service at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include her grandsons and Clark Bradshaw, Alan Bradshaw and Matt Martin. Honorary pallbearers include Dick Lough, George Coldiron, Jerry Hale, Reapers Sunday School Class, Ophelia Hernandez, Sharon Bramel, Judy Schaefer, Jan Williams, Jackie Pearce, Frances Nido and Nancy Hayes.
