Naomi Doris Colyer Burt, 84, died Sunday, July 02, 2017. Born in Norwich, New York on September 14, 1932, she is the daughter of the late Harry Elbert and Winifred Northrup Colyer. Naomi graduated from South New Berlin High School in New York. She traveled with her late husband, Stewart Burt and attended many Scientific Glassblowing functions with him. They retired to Danville and joined the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the PrimeTimers Choir for many years. She also was active in the Wilderness Trail Homemakers Club. In addition to travel, Naomi loved to knit, read and water ski. She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart Burt and five siblings, Beverly, Albert, Mildred, Harry and Kathleen.
Naomi is survived by two daughters, Jo-Ann (Keith) Whitcomb of Danville and Debra (James) Clouse of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; three sons, Robert Burt of Pittsburg, Pa., Rev. David (Tunnea) Burt of Brunswick, MD., and Rev. Joseph (Peggy) Burt of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Brandy (Matthew) Walker, Todd (Lauren) Clouse, Daniel (Ashlee) Burt, SaraJo (Ben) Morris, Jason (Betsy) Burt, Pannay (Kevin) Guigley, Christina Kapelonis and John (Krystle) Burt and seventeen great-grandchildren, Jayden Thompson, Carsten and Cullen Walker, Easton Clouse, Evie,Serena and Vassi Guigley, Agape and Christos Kapelonis, Melina and Deanna Burt, Eli Burt, Aaralyn, Dean and Xavier Burt and Elijah and Conrad Morris; and two sisters, Marie Broadbent of South New Berlin and Patricia Kuhn of Morris, New York.
The funeral service is 1 p.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 1570 N. Danville Bypass. Rev. Tim Mathis will officiate. Pallbearers will be Benny Goode, George Coldiron, Dick Lough, Bill Sievers, Buddy Hester, and Bill Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be The Joy Sunday School Class. Entombment will follow the funeral at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 - 1 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church. Stith Funeral Home is arranging the services.
