Michael Smith

Michael W. "Mike" Smith, age 71 passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Mike was born on April 15, 1942, in Corbin, KY, to Samuel and Irene Wells Smith.

Mike loved to hunt, fish, golf, boat and travel. His and his wife's favorite destination was London, England. He supervised the building of three Habitat for Humanity homes and was a volunteer at Ephraim McDowell Hospital. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Everyone who knew Mike would hear him talk about how proud he was of his daughters and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Susan Smith; two daughters, Shelley (Clay) Elswick of Lexington, KY, and Mindy Bartel of Dayton, OH; six grandchildren, Lindy (Blake) Woodward, Jake Bartel, Alex Elswick, Eric Bartel, Katie Elswick and Kyle Bartel; his mother Irene Smith; one sister, Gwen (Terry) Galbraith of Nicholasville, KY; one niece, Wendy Flynn; one great-nephew, Will Flynn. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013, at 11:00AM at the funeral home with burial following in Danville Memorial Gardens.
