Mary Josephine Bandiera, a resident of Somerset Nursing and Rehab, departed this world at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, surrounded by family and the spirit of love, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She joined her husband of 60 years, Victor Bandiera, her parents, Antonio Clementoni and Florence Giammarino Clementoni in Heaven. Mary was born in Mamaroneck, New York on February 11th, 1933. She met the love of her life at a dance and married him in June 1950 and they had 3 beautiful children. Mary and Victor raised their family in Wilmington, Delaware and Miramar, Florida. She was a bookkeeper, insurance manager, a wonderful cook and homemaker. They retired to Somerset, Kentucky in 1996. She is survived by her younger sister, Elizabeth Dobies of Danville, Kentucky and her brother Michael Figliola of Wilmington, Delaware. Mary is also survived by her children: Victoria (Ken) Head, Roger Bandiera and Anthony (Laurie) Bandiera all of Somerset, Kentucky; Nieces: Andrea (Joe) Lee of Oppenheim, Kentucky, Donna (Sean) Halpin of Pensacola, Florida; Grandchildren: Elizabeth and Andrea Bandiera, David (Christine) Head, Jael (Samuel) Nichols all of Somerset, Kentucky; Great-Grandchildren: Trinity Head, Sebastian, Woodrow, Julian, Jaiden, Malakai and Jaimeson Nichols; Sister in Laws: Lorraine Wasik of Dixson, Tennessee and Bonita (Arthur) Episcapo of Wilmington, Delaware. As well as a large extended family in Delaware. Graveside service will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens, Saturday, March 24th, 2012 at 10:30 am. The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to The Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) to help find a cure for this disease.
