SALVISA - Marvin Southerland, age 66, of Old Lexington Road in Salvisa, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2011, at his residence.
Born Sunday, September 10, 1944, in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Forest and Christine Cromer Southerland. Marvin was a heavy equipment operator and attended Hebron Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting, fishing, and going to yard sales.
He is survived by his dear wife, whom he wed on March 23, 1987, Rebecca Wiglesworth Southerland; sons, Dewayne (Nikki) Southerland of Danville and Marvin (Amy) Wells of Lexington; daughters, Marina (Brad) Tully of Russell Springs, Janet (Junior) Holman of Harrodsburg, and Reeda (Eddie) Jenkins of Lexington; brothers, Larry (Connie) Southerland of Danville, Jesse Southerland of Lincoln Co., and James (Lela) Southerland and William (Josephine) Southerland, both of LaFollette, TN; sister, Anieta Southard of Louisville; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his friend, companion, and pet, Rusty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. George Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Bradshaw, David Polin, Ronald Wine, Tim Southerland, Robie Thompson, and David Vinyard.
