Marjorie Edwards Westerfield, 84, of Danville, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville, Kentucky.
She was born on April 24, 1927 to the late Thomas H. and Margaret Edwards of Danville. She was a graduate of Danville High School. She was employed as a nurse at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Cardinal Hill, and Madison Manor Nursing Home in Richmond, for over 40 years.
She had spent the last few years in Richmond before returning to Danville. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She lived her life with grace and generosity to family and friends. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and she lived to be of service to others. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, Christian, and an avid UK fan.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Westerfield and her second husband, Thomas Bledsoe. In addition, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl H. Edwards and T.H. "Buck" Edwards, and a sister, Jane Edwards.
Survivors include her sons, Gary (Carolyn) Westerfield of Richmond and Carl Westerfield of Lexington; a daughter, Carole Rainey (Jr.) Meredith of Danville; six grandchildren, Chris (Telisha) Rainey of Mitchellsburg, Arlinda (Kevin) Kessler of Columbia, Daniel (Patricia) Westerfield of Richmond, Carrie (James) Ballinger of Richmond, Robin (James) Morey of Lexington and Stacey (Matt) Stacey of Lexington, as well as, 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church on Lexington Road in Danville, Kentucky with the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the church. Dr. Jerry Shepard will officiate.
Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Charleston Health Care Recreation Fund.
Pallbearers will be Chris Rainey, Corey Rainey, Tyler Rainey, Jeremy Phillips, Daniel Westerfield, James Ballinger, Matt Stacey and Kevin Kessler. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
