b. January 11, 1926

Maria K. Clement Rice, 92, of Danville passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2018. Born January 11, 1926 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Heinrich and Frieda Clement. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Rice, Jr; a brother, Hans Clement; and a sister, Helga Chomor. She had been a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church for over 50 years where she loved her church and church family. She was very active in all aspects of church from visiting to serving in the kitchen. She taught first grade Sunday School for over 30 years, enjoyed traveling with the Fun Loving Hearts, and was presently a member of the Faithful and True Sunday School Class. Maria had a passion for needle work, winning many awards at local fairs. A very social lady, she loved being around people and enjoyed spending time at the 55 and Alive Center. She was also an avid UK basketball fan. Survivors include her two daughters, Connie (Farris) Mason of Danville and Shirley (Jerry) Rogers of Danville; three grandchildren: Brian (Nicola) Mason, Cindy Rogers, and Stefanie (Mike) Cocanougher; and three great grandchildren: Alexis (Weston) Martt, Clay Cocanougher and Nina Mason. Services will be at 10 am, Wednesday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Quinn and Dr. Keith Stillwell officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at the church. A private burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Farris Mason, Jerry Rogers, Mike Cocanougher, Clay Cocanougher, Brian Mason and Weston Martt. Honorary pallbearers are Preston Wright, Bernard Montgomery, Ted Sutton, Ted Monroe, David Williams, Henry Wilson and members of the Faithful and True Sunday School Class.
