Lucy Voorhies, 88, mother of Trudy Stevens, Danville, died Monday, April 2, 2018 in Danville. Born March 23, 1930 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Hattie Jenkins. She was a retired Corning Inspector and a member of the Burgin Baptist Church. She attended Carpenter's Christian Church and enjoyed going to Keeneland, playing cards and checkers, shopping and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors besides her daughter include: one brother: Leonard Jenkins of Florence; four grandchildren: Loden (Trent) Arkema, Stephanie (Jeremy) Brummett, Kristina (David) Grubb and Lane Stevens; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Elizabeth Elks; two brothers: Robert and Lucian Jenkins and three sisters: Lizzie Vandiver, Stella Logue, and Emily Patterson.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Darrell Hahn and Ray Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Brummett, Trent Arkema, Calvin Sims, Lane Stevens, David Grubb and Ray Cameron serving as pallbearers and Leonard Jenkins serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday.
