Danville-Larry Coleman, age 62 passed away at his residence on Friday, September 23, 2011. He was born in Montgomery Co., OH on Sunday, December 11, 1949 to the late Billy and Nancy Howard Coleman.
Larry was a semi-truck driver hauling hazardous chemicals, union leader for the teamsters and most recently had worked at Spirit Chevrolet in Harrodsburg, KY.
He was a Kentucky Colonel, loved to camp, fish, cook and work on electronics. He loved to watch the Cincinnati Bengals and Nascar. He was a little league coach for many years in Mercer Co. having coached football, baseball and basketball. Mr. Coleman was passionate about his religion and on numerous occasions preached at many churches in the area and was a member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Jennifer Stout Coleman; five children, Stephanie (Stephen) Carr of Danville, Sashona (David) Hawkins of Danville, Brian Coleman of Danville, Josh (Kristal) Coleman of Nicholasville, and Aaron (Jessica) Coleman of Junction City; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Coleman of Danville; one sister, Elizabeth (Ron) parker of Centerville, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one child, Kelly Coleman and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 12:00PM at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Allen officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening September 26, 2011 from 5:00pm to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Coleman, Larry Aaron Coleman, David Hawkins, Willy Sherwood, Johnny Dominguez and Tim Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Coleman, Stephen Carr, Billy Hargis and Dr. Shahzad.
The family would like to express their appreciation to DCI personnel, EMS crews, McDowell home health care nurses Amy and Missy, bus driver Sandy Darland and a special thank you to Dr. Shahzad for not only being a great doctor but a special friend as well.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to National Kidney Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
