Hobert Howard, 84, of Sugar Creek Rd, Lancaster, died Friday at Christian Care Center in Lancaster. Born to the late Toy and Delpha Collinsworth Howard ; and was preceded in death by his wife Christine Howard.


Hobert was a pipeline constructionist for union 181. He constructed pipelines in forty eight states in the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii, and also Africa and New Zealand. He served in the Navy for his country in WWII, and was a member of Forks of Dix River Baptist Church.


Surviving is a son Barry Howard of Lancaster, two daughters Rita Moberly(Jimmy), Diane Prewitt(Keith) both of Lancaster, a brother Vandell Howard(Shirley) of Mt.Sterling, six sisters Wonetta Ward, Clara Jean Howard(Blackie), Alta Howes(Charles), Phyliss Casebolt(Holly), Shirley Helton(George), and Wilma Lee Howard, all of Magoffin County, KY, also surviving are ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was also predeceased in death by a son, Larry Howard, a grandson Jimmy Shane Moberly, brothers, Jolly, Calvin,Lydon Howard, sisters, Joyce Howard, and Alma Adams .


Funeral Service 11:00 A.M. Tuesday February 28, 2012. at the Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Browning officiating. Visitation Monday 6-9 P.M.


Active pallbearers will be Jared Prewitt, Toy Howard, Jonathan Noe, Daniel Lamb, Jason Caudill and Ryan Vice.


Honorary will be Harry Gullett, Jimmy Moberly, Keith Prewitt, Vandel Howard, Steve Lane, Gary Ledford, Shauna Howard, Holly Caudill, Kristin Tudor, Keri Noe, Kyra Burnett, Kristin Burnett, Kaleena Burnett, Kia Lamb, and Eight Great-Grandchildren.
