Godbey Whitehouse, 87, of 480 Boone Trail died Wednesday, July 07, 2010 at his residence. Born February 10, 1923 in Perryville, Ky., he was the son of Leslie and Rosie Lee Alford Whitehouse. Godbey graduated from Perryville High School and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Danville where he served as a deacon for many years. He was on the Board of Directors of the Boyle Co. Farm Bureau and was a retired salesman for Louisville Seed Co., Louisville, Ky. He loved his church, his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and spent winters fishing in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice Arnold Whitehouse and one son, Kenneth Ray (Tina) Whitehouse Sr.; two grandsons, Kenneth Ray (Pam) Whitehouse Jr., Danville and Jeffrey Scott (Teresa) Whitehouse, Chatham, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Madison and Tyler Whitehouse, Danville, and Ashley and Megan Whitehouse, Chatham, Ill. He is also survived by two special friends and caregivers, Barbara Rose and Susie Wofford.
He was predeceased by eight brothers, Ezra, Clarence, Bob, Alfred, J.L., Marshall, Arthur Ray and Stanley Whitehouse and two sisters, Sadie Litton and Bertha Shepperson.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Danville with Rev. Tim Mathis and Rev. Albert Gisler. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Whitehouse, Milton Whitehouse, Gene Litton, Earl Campbell, Tim Blevins and W. H. Furr. Honorary pallbearers will be Madison, Tyler, Ashley and Megan Whitehouse and Godbey's Sunday School Class, The Andrew Class.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m., Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
