Gilbert McElroy, 73, of Danville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at his home.
Born March 8, 1941, he was a son of the late James Franklin and Ovie Chambers McElroy. Gilbert served in the Army and was a plumber for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Tony McElroy (Amanda) of Danville and Michael McElroy of Florida; a granddaughter, Natoshaa McElroy; five brothers, John McElroy of Danville, Bobby McElroy and Edgar McElroy, both of Lancaster, Kenneth McElroy of Stanford and Paul McElroy of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Mary Francis Gambel of Texas and Maria Preston of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie McElroy and Cecil McElroy; and three sisters, Thelma Preston, Joyce Ann McElroy and Clara Bell McElroy.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Preston-Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Otis Clark. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth McElroy, Chad McPherson, Nick Raley, Pete Marra, David Holland and Tim Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Selvy and David Wren.
Visitation will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday.
