George Washington VanArsdall Jr., 81 of Danville died Saturday June 8, 2013 at Charleston Health Care. Born October 27, 1931 in Harrodsburg, Ky., he was the son of the late George W. and Alice Louise Devine VanArsdall Sr. He graduated in the class of 1949 from Danville High School. George served in the Army National Guard. He retired after 30 years as an electrician for Corning Glass and Phillips Lighting. For 50 years was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was predeceased by a brother, J.W. VanArsdall; a sister, Bessie VanArsdall Coffman and his first wife, Kathleen VanWinkle VanArsdall.
He is survived by his wife Judy Horton VanArsdall; two sons, Victor (Sueticia) VanArsdall and Billy (Michelle) VanArsdall; three daughters; Jackie (Robb) Raines, Kim VanArsdall and Tina (David) Roney; eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 1 pm, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Peyton, Rev. Steve James and Rev. Clyde Strunk will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Lyle Evans, Ronnie Byrd, Jimmie Lair , Everett Stafford, Johnny Wayne VanArsdall, Earl Pinkston, Craig Bell and Kelly Boston. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Billy Mills, Alfred Wilson, Lennie Shepperson and grandsons. Visitation will be after 5 on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Gethsemane Baptist Church.
