STANFORD - Gary Thomas Richey, age 59, of South Loop in Stanford, died Friday, October 29, 2010, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Wednesday, October 3, 1951, in Danville, KY, he was a son of the late Willie Marion Richey and Margie Marie McElfresh Richey. Gary was co-owner and co-operator of Fort Logan Trading Post in Stanford for the last 23 years. He was a former assistant manager for Winn-Dixie for 15 years. He was a member of Cruisin Buddies Car Club and he enjoyed car shows and cruises. Gary was a member of Moreland Baptist Church and attended Stanford First Church of God. He was also an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his dear wife, whom he wed on September 17, 1994, Peggy Jo Miller Richey; children, Susan (Shane) Wren, Brian Shelton, and Christy (Dewayne) Lark, all of Stanford; grandchildren, Lakin and Lindsey Wren, and Sawyer, Riley, and Layne Lark; sister, Rosanne (Robert) Stocker of Danville; aunts, Lena Mae Phillips, Anna Belle Richey, and Mary Adams, all of Auburn, KY; and cousins, Lisa (David) Votaw and Michael (Vera) Young.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home in Danville with Dr. Harold Harness officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 5 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dannie Tucker, Freddie Green, Ted Grigsby, Larry Walls, Paul Buis, Roger Bell, Ronnie Hazlett, and Jerome Flynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Lawson, Robin Jones, Terry Graham, Michael Young, Ken McDaniels, Tony Newsom, Jim Baird, and Vernon Douglas.
