Frank Durrett, 93, Danville, died Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born April 4, 1923 in Shelby County, Ky., son of the late William and Stella Hall Durrett. He graduated from Junction City High School and the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga. He is a member of the First Baptist Church, Junction City, and served as a Deacon and member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Durrett served as a Sargent in the Army Air Corp during WWII in the South Pacific and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a long time Boyle County farmer and a member of the Boyle Co. Livestock Market Coop., a Director of the Boyle Co. Farm Bureau and Boyle Co. Southern States, and was past president of the Boyle Co. Extension Council and the 4 H Council. He was a member of the American Legion Boyle Post # 46, the Disabled American Veterans, a 4 H Leader and a member of the Gideon's International. Frank was predeceased by a brother, Robert Stewart Durrett, a sister, Helen Cloyd and a son-in-law, Richard Pate.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred Phillips Durrett, two daughters, Sherri Morgan Pate of San Benito, Tx. and Lisa (Doc) Norvell of Perryville; a sister, Ann (Lou) Greco of Cocoa, Fla., and a brother, William (Jewel) Durrett, two grandsons, Ryan Norvell and Jacob Pate and a great-grandson, Austin Norvell.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Rev. Dale Denton will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Caswell-Saufley American Legion Post # 19. Pallbearers will be David Tarkington, Bill Durrett, Ryan Norvell, David Shelton, Glenn Peavey and Gary Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Toadvine, Leonard Upton, Norman Griffith, Clyde Jackson and the Men's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Junction City, Building Fund.
