Floying Thompson Jr

Rev. Floying William Thompson, Jr., 68, husband of Marsha Goodlett Thompson died Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington. Born September 7, 1947 in Harrodsburg, Floying was the son of the late Floying William Sr. and Margaret Harmon Thompson. He was a member of the 4th Street, Danville Church of God. Floying was an ordained Bishop of the Church of God and served as a Pastor District Overseer. He was on the Ministerial Examining Board and was Spiritcare Director; he also served as a Chaplain for the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed old cars, camping, fishing, boating and spending time with his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife are one son: Troy (Becky Jo) Thompson of Harrodsburg, one brother: Dennis (Rose) Thompson of Harrodsburg, one niece: Denise Lee Anne Thompson of Harrodsburg three aunts: Judy Harmon Reed, Flossie Oder of Springfield and Anna Lou Carey of Nicholasville, two uncles: Cornell Powell of Harrodsburg and Dale Powell of Lancaster.

Floying was preceded in death by a son: Travis Wayne Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Danville 4th Street Church of God with Bro. Brian Montgomery officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Danville Memorial Gardens with Denny Thompson, Kelly Burchett, Ron Short, John Hukle, Robert McCowan and Rev. Bobby "Buck" Fultz serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Dallas Johnson, Calvin King and Rev. Lonnie Daugherty.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016 and after 9:00 A.M. Friday.
