Eugene E. Carman, 81, of Scenic View in Lancaster, passed away
Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his residence. Born July 17, 1929 in
Casey County, he was a son of the late Theodore "Ted" & Vertie May Douglas Carman. Eugene was a retired employee of Corning / Phillips Lighting where he had worked for 38 years, was a graduate of Casey County High School, member of the D.A.V., a Kentucky colonel and a member of the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. He had served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict in the Co. C 89th Tank Battalion for the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles & Donald Carman. His survivors include his dear wife of 58 years , Nola Grider Carman, three daughters, Charlotte (Johnny) Denny and Janet (Lanny) Ray of Lancaster, Pat (Gary) Richardson of Danville, six brothers Homer Carman of Anderson, In., Junior Carmon of Cinn., Ohio, Jimmy & Marcus Carman of Crestwood, Ky., Marvin & Russell Carman of
LaGrange, three sisters, Carolyn Carman & Hazel Hegerman of Crestwood, Ky., and Joyce Williams of LaGrange, Ky., nine grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Browning & Rev. Bill Rhodus. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion. Pallbearers will be John, Jeremiah, Jacob & Jordan Denny, Daniel Richardson, Justin & Jessie Ray. Honorary bearers will be Lara Lashney, Sara Runyan, Johnny, Larry, & Gary Carman, Glen Preston, George, Wendell, Randy & Ronald Douglas. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Tuesday at Ramsey Funeral Home. Contributions in lieu of flowers may go to the Forks of Dix River Baptist Church. Ramsey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
