Dorothy BonAvere Burkle Petro, 91, of Danville, formerly of Elwood City, Pa., died Thursday, November 29, 2012. Born March 26, 1921 in East Palastine, Ohio, she was the daughter of William Fredrick and Ethel Irene Myers Burkle. She was the widow of Arthur "Art" Petro. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served as church hostess for 10 years. She was a member of the Hope Sunday School class. She was a UK fan and loved traveling, camping and her grandkids.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Petro of Lexington, Sandy Atkinson of Danville, a son, Bob Petro of Danville, and two grandchildren, Jaci Atkinson (Logan) Dedman and William Atkinson.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Bro. Steve James and Kevin Hampton will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Interment will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
