Danville- David A. Reed, age 52 passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 6, 2012. He was born in Winchester, KY on September 19, 1959 to the late David and Phyllis Wilson Reed
He was a long time employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad serving as a Carman. He was a U.S. Army veteran during which time he served our country as a helicopter repairman. While in the military he also assisted with the recovery and relief effort after the Mt. St. Helens volcano eruption in 1980. David enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends and shooting.
Survivors include his son Bo Allen Reed; siblings, William "Butch" Reed, James "Roscoe" Reed and Leasa Reed (Danny) Aikin; his former wife, Mona Renee Bailey; his three dogs which he also considered as children Lady, Chip and Roo as well as a multitude of extended nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Collier officiating. A gathering of David's friends and family will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Per the family's request, donations may be made to the Humane Society of your choice.
