Clay Davis, 78, of Lancaster, KY passed away Friday, December 20, 2013. He was born October 6, 1935 to the late Harlan and Edna Hall Davis. He was the widower of the late Shirley Davis. He loved farming and gardening, which he did in his spare time, and loved to fish.


Survivors include one son: Michael Davis (Linda) of Crab Orchard, KY, two daughters: Kathie Phillips (Rodney) of Lancaster, KY and Klaetta Schneider (Randall) of Cynthiana, KY, one brother: Leroy Davis of Lancaster, KY, four sisters: Iva Long of Lexington, KY, Myrtle Clos of Brooksville, KY, Inis Davis of Lexington, KY, and Bertie Flannery of Lancaster, KY, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers.


A one day service has been scheduled for Monday, December 23, 2013 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel (Stanford). Visitation will be from 10am-1pm. Funeral service will begin at 1pm with Reverend Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be at Danville Memorial Gardens in Danville, KY. Casket bearers are: Tyler Phillips, Zach Schneider, Ben Tipton, Gary Hunter, and Ronnie Flannery. Honorary bearers will be: Bob & Wanda Creech, Wayne & Margaret Phillips, Dr. Don Hamner, and Chrystal Phillips. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be given to Heritage Hospice (P.O. Box 1213, Danville, KY 40422) and/or Gideons International (P.O. Box 155, Stanford, KY 40484).
