Charles Preston

Charles H. "Charlie" Preston, age 76 passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 27, 1936 in Jessamine Co. to the late Hubert Rabe and Annie Mae Drury Preston.

Charlie was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic and loved to tinker in carpentry, plumbing, electric and mechanical things. He could fix and build anything and loved to make things for his family. He enjoyed fishing, watching Kentucky basketball, vintage cars and trucks and listening to music.

Survivors include his loving wife Anita Lucille Sargent Preston; three sons, Charles Steven Preston, Hubert Eugene (Kathy) Preston, and Michael Dale (Jill) Preston; two daughters, Rita Gayle Vickrey and Georgia Mae York; nine grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Vickrey, Lewis (Ashley) Vickrey, Adam York, Andrew York, Eric Preston, Chance Preston, April (Barry) York Chelsea Preston and Camryn Preston; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Preston, Jessie Preston and Edwin (Maria) Preston; and four sisters, Carolyn Miracle, Dorce (Shorty) Lottis, Betty Kid and Linda Preston.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Preston and George Preston and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Preston.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Chaplain Daryl Hahn officiating. Visitation will from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday with burial following in Danville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chris & Lewis Vickrey, Adam & Andrew York and Eric & Chance Preston. Honorary pallbearers will be April York, Chelsea & Camryn Preston, Jerry Matthews, Ashley Vickrey, Jessica Mattingly and Barry Camden.
