B.J. Gilbert

DANVILLE: B. J. Gilbert, 86, passed away Friday December 20, 2013. He was born October 9, 1927 in Jackson County, Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Cora May Gilbert and was the husband of 67 years to Sophia Johnson Gilbert

Mr. Gilbert was a farmer and a charter member of Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church. He was a member of the Planning and Zoning Board, enjoyed his church, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary (Marlene) Gilbert of Boyle County, Bennie (Terry) Gilbert of Mercer County, two daughters, Sondra (Eddie) Townsend of Boyle County, Imogene (Larry) Brown of Houston, three brothers, Virgil (Charlene) Gilbert of TN, Sterling (Wilma) Gilbert of Edmonton, KY, Conley Gilbert, a sister Mary Lou (Art) Marcum all of London, KY, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Oscar, Orville, Olan, Everett, Theodore Gilbert, and a sister Jacqueline Cook.

Funeral service will be 11:00a.m. Monday December 23, 2013 at Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Harris and Pastor Travis Alltop officiating, burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8:00p.m.at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.

Casket Bearers will be Brad Wilkerson, Joey Gilbert, Rodney Brown, Tim Gilbert, Chris Wrenn, Derick Beldon, and Robb Newby.

Honorary Bearers will be Eddie Townsend, Larry Brown, Gary Douglas, Tom Hogg, J.D. Smith, David Votaw, and Charlie Wilkerson.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church.
