Danville: Betty J. Atwood, 75, passed away Monday June 30, 2014. Mrs. Atwood was born in Middleburg, Kentucky on October 22, 1938 to the late Alpha Coleman and Beulah May King Luster and was the wife of 55 years to Kenneth M. Atwood.

Mrs. Atwood was a devoted wife and homemaker and was a member of Hedgeville Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading her Bible, being involved in her church and going antique shopping.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, Mrs. Atwood is survived by two sons Mark D. (Kimberly) Atwood of Paducah and Brent S. (Daedra) Atwood of Bowling Green. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Matthew B. and Ashton N. Atwood, Landon G., Lauren P., and Lindsay C. Atwood.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atwood was preceded in death by five sisters, Narine Smith, Pauline Luster, Lovine McWhorter, Effie Lamb, and Bonnie Hixon.

The funeral service will be 11:00a.m., Thursday July 3, 2014 at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Farris, Vincent Carmen, and Don McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., Wednesday at Preston Pruitt Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Atwood, Landon Atwood, Phillip Murphy, Bryan, Kenan, and Keith McWhorter.
